Overall Impression:

Here’s an updated trip report on American Airlines Business Class LAX-HKG on their Boeing 777-300ER. American’s reverse herringbone business class seat is still one of the best business class product in the US-transpacific market. Come join me and let’s fly across the Pacific on American’s Business Class.

What I liked:

The Lounge – The newly renovated American Flagship Lounge at LAX is very nice. It’s spacious and offers plenty of seating. There’s an expansive buffet table which offers hot and cold food items. There’s also a wine and champagne bar for those who want to partake.

The Seats – It’s very spacious, private, and comfortable. More importantly, the seat reclines into a flat bed when you’re ready to sleep.

The Amenities – American has teamed up with Casper to furnish their in-flight mattress pad, duvet, and pajamas while Cole Haan still produces their amenity kit.

What I didn’t like:

The service – The crew was attentive and my wine glass was proactively refilled without me asking, but they just plain looked miserable and did not want to be there.

It was OK, I guess…

The food – This flight departed past midnight, so the service was an abbreviated late night supper meal. mid-flight snacks were available on request and a walk-up bar was available during the flight. Breakfast service was done 90-minutes before landing with the typical continental or hot egg dish. Overall, the meals during the flight though not stellar, was sufficient and plenty.

Bottom Line:

Overall I really like this flight. The flagship lounge at LAX has been remodeled and offers plenty of food and beverages before the flight. The flight timing is quite good in my opinion, because you depart at night and get a good night’s sleep and then arrive in Hong Kong. The best feature about this flight is definitely the hard product itself. The seats are very comfortable and conducive to sleep thanks to the casper mattress pad, and pajamas and other amenities. The food is edible, but really nothing to write home about. The only thing that’s really lacking is a good, personable service from the crew. The flight attendants really looked like they didn’t want to be there.
