Overall Impression:

It’s late 2022 and most places have started to put the COVID-19 pandemic behind them, and travel seems to be picking up again. For those of you that have seen our previous reviews on Qatar Airways, you’d know that we love the QSuite product. The seat is both comfortable and private for this 7+ hour flight from Doha to Paris. Though we were curious to see if the service and amenities have gone back to pre-pandemic levels of service on the ground and in-flight. We are happy to report that it has and we had a stellar flight from start to finish. The only hiccup was the Al Mourjan lounge in Doha was very crowded when we arrived that we couldn’t get a shower, let alone a toilet stall when we arrived. Otherwise, another great flight on Qatar!

What I liked:

The Lounge- Typically Business Class Passengers get access to the Al Mourjan Lounge in Doha, but since we were arriving with a First Class ticket from Male, we were granted access to the AL Safwa First Lounge. The lounge features high ceilings with plenty of seats to relax in. Most importantly, the lounge was relatively empty during our visit. We were also able to enjoy a nice made to order meal at the restaurant without waiting for a table. The only down side was we only have 2 hours to enjoy the lounge, which was way too short!

The seats – I really like Qatar’s QSuite product and I think it’s the best business class product available to date. The seat is private, yet spacious and well laid out. The seat controls, IFE, storage, and power outlets are all within an easy reach. The QSuite also features a door that you can close in-flight for extra privacy.

The onboard service – The service from the crew was excellent, and the in-flight service has been restored to how it was prior to the pandemic. The flight attendants working our aisle were friendly, efficient, and proactive in delivering the in-flight service. The crew also anticipated all our needs during the flight.

The IFE – This plane uses the Oryx One Entertainment system and it offers a plethora of new and classic movies, TV programs, music, and games selections. The system interface is responsive and it was easy to navigate through the media content. Super WiFi service was also available for a reasonable price of USD $10 for the entire flight.

Personal Air Nozzles – Yes, air nozzles are available on this aircraft, so it was easy for us to get comfortable and get some sleep in-flight.

What I didn’t like:

Limited onboard Catering – Since this was a night flight, it is somewhat implied that most passengers would prefer to sleep instead of dining onboard, hence the limited menu selection. Not the end of the world, but not really ideal for foodlovers like me…

It was OK…I guess:

The amenities – Qatar offers excellent business class amenities. All passengers are offered a Diptyque amenity kit, and pajamas by The White Company London. A bottled water, and noise canceling headphones are available at each seat. A full-size pillow, a thick and comfortable duvet were also available at each seat, although I did notice that mattress pads were not available on this flight, and are only available for Ultra Long Haul flights. The lavatories are also very clean and fully stocked with toiletries, toothbrushes, and razors.
