Overall Impression:

This was our first time flying Turkish Airlines on an international widebody flight, so we were excited. Sadly, we were left a bit disappointed due to the lack of amenities and food offering. The seats were nice and spacious, but the amenities were almost barebones. Considering Turkish used to have one of the best in-flight catering in business class, the beverage and food offering on this flight were just boxed juices, sodas, and a cold and unappetizing breakfast box. The service was cordial though a bit abrupt. I really do hope things go back to how it was after his pandemic, so we can properly enjoy the Turkish Airlines food and service.

What I liked:

The seats – I really like Turkish’s Business Class seats on this plane, which is also used by Singapore Airlines on their new regional business class deployments. The seat is quite spacious and it was comfortable for sitting and dining upright. The seat also reclines and converts into a 76” flat bed. And yes, Turkish offers personal air nozzles on this aircraft.

The IFE – Turkish offers a very good in-flight entertainment system.  The interface is easy to use and is responsive. There was also plenty of media content and my favorite Voyager moving map app to keep me occupied during the 3-ish hour flight to Amsterdam. They also offer live TV broadcasts and 2 outside camera feeds (not as good as the one on the A350).

What I didn’t like:

The food – The lack of hot food offering on this flight was very disappointing, as the breakfast box was unappetizing. I hope this changes after the pandemic.

The amenities – Only the personal hygiene kit containing a mask and sanitizing wipes were provided. No pillows or blankets were offered either. Though I was happy to see that they had Toiletries in the lavatory.

It was OK…I guess:

The onboard service – The flight attendant working our aisle was cordial and apologetic for the lack of service on this flight. The meal service after takeoff was also quick and efficient, though a bit abrupt.

The Turkish Airlines Lounge- The Turkish lounge in Istanbul is huge and is tastefully decorated with warm tones and Turkish inspired touches. The lounge offered plenty of seating throughout, so there were no crowding issues, but the lack of hot food selection was a bit disappointing.
