Overall Impression:

For those who know me through my past reviews, you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of American’s business class seats on their 777-300ER (seat 4J being my favorite), and I’m happy to be back in my favorite seat on this flight. As expected, the seat was comfortable for sitting upright, lounging, and sleeping, and I love that my knees do not bump into anything laying down. Everything from the storage to the controls are all thoughtfully placed for easy access while seated.

In terms of catering out of London, it was actually pretty good. The food tasted fresh and was very good.

The crew was charming and very attentive. Our flight attendant Susan was amazing, along with all the flight attendants we interacted with. The crew was attentive and eager to please. Susan also constantly checked on us during the flight to see if we needed anything.

What I liked:

The seats – It’s back to my favorite seat on AA. Seat 4J in the mini business class cabin is very private as there are only 8 seats in the cabin. The seat, as you know if you’ve seen my previous reviews is very comfortable and is among my favorite seats in the sky. You get plenty of storage and personal space and I love how everything is intuitively laid out for easy reach and access.

The onboard service – The crew on this flight was excellent. Our flight attendant, Susan was amazing! She took good care of us along with the rest of the crew. She even offered us a pre-departure drink, which is unheard of on a US carrier since the pandemic began. Our drinks were constantly refilled and the crew proactively checked on us to see if we needed anything. I even got a hand-written thank you note. The crew also setup a walk-up snackbar near the galley mid-flight.

The IFE – AA’s Panasonic IFE is among my favorite in the sky. The interface is intuitive and responsive. There was also plenty of media content and my favorite Voyager moving map app to keep me occupied during this 11-hour transatlantic flight.

The Amenities – AA offers a business class amenity kit, Bang and Olufsen noise canceling headphones (collected 45 minutes before landing), bottled water, and a full-size pillow and duvet set.

BA Galleries First Lounge at LHR T5 – Since the pandemic, AA temporarily relocated their flight operations to Heathrow’s Terminal 5 (they’re now back to T3, just a few weeks ago). Our Oneworld Emerald status gave us access to the Galleries First Lounge, which is great. They offer an a la carte table service, where you can order from your seat via a QR code, and the staff will bring it to your seat. The food and beverage selection was very good and the pot pie that we ordered tasted delicious too!

What I didn’t like:

Plastic Cups in Business Class – Please bring back the glassware soon!

It was OK…I guess:

The Food – The catering on this flight from London was actually very good. The food tasted fresh and the steak I ordered was perfectly cooked. The mini pies for the pre-arrival meal were small but pretty tasty.
