Overall Impression:

Just like on the outbound, Qatar Airways (QR)’s current dispute with Airbus regarding the A350 airframes resulted in in an aircraft swap from an Airbus A350-1000/900 to an older Boeing 777-300ER/200LR.

Although this wasn’t our first QSuite flight, it’s really an excellent business class product, and we always look forward to flying it.

Business Class on Qatar’s Boeing 777 is laid out in a 1-2-1 configuration. Some seats face forward, while others are rear facing. The center seats can be opened-up so that a family or friends of 4, can still see each other and converse during the flight.

What I liked:

The Seats – I was seated in 6B, a front facing window seat on the port side of the plane, while my companion was in 3A, a rear facing window seat. I was initially concerned that because of the sliding door, the QSuite might feel tight and claustrophobic, but this was not the case. The seat is very comfortable for lounging and sleeping. It also felt spacious and very private.

The Service – Qatar Airways offers a dine-on-demand concept in business class, where you can order anything from the menu at any time during the flight. Consistent with our previous flights on QR, our flight attendant was proactive, charming and very efficient. The crew provided us a pre-departure beverage service complete with hot towels. They also constantly checked on us if we needed anything during the flight.

The Food – The catering on this flight was great! All the food and meals we ordered throughout the flight were plenty, beautifully presented, and delicious!

Business Class Amenities – A safety kit including mask, latex gloves, and hand sanitizer were offered to all business class passengers in addition to the Bric’s amenity kit, and pajamas. The crew offered turndown service, with a thick duvet, full-size pillowm and mattress pads were placed on the seat when you’re ready to wind down and get some sleep. The lavatories were stocked with toothbrushes, shaving kits, and bottles of moisturizers and facial mist. They were also regularly cleaned by the crew.

The Al Mourjan Business Lounge in Doha – As I mentioned in our previous trips, this is probably the best business class lounge I’ve been in. The food is plenty and did I mention they serve freshly made sushi?! The lounge is also very spacious and it’s easy to find a comfortable seat while waiting for your flight.

It was OK:

I’m really nitpicking here, but The Bric’s amenity kit is just OK, but I actually prefer the old Giorgio Armani soft pouches from before. The White Company Pajamas/slippers provided was also a nice touch, but their old business class pajamas and slippers were of better quality in my opinion.

What I didn’t like:

Seat 6B – Although the seat was really comfortable for lounging and sleeping, seat 6B only has one window, compared to 2 or 3 on other seats. And it is misaligned. :/

Bottom Line:

Qatar Airways QSuite is a superb the business class product. Probably the best we have experienced. The seats, service, amenities, and food rivals even some of the best First Class products available. The overall experience including the Al Mourjan lounge is really on a league of its own and we always look forward forward to flying Qatar Airways.
