Property: Antantara Dhigu Resort Maldives
Room Type: Sunrise Beach Villa
Date of Stay: June 2021

The Anantara Dhigu Maldives has been our go-to resort in the Maldives. During our stays, we’ve received excellent and consistent service from the staff. The villas and the resort in general are both impeccably clean and well-maintained. Even during the pandemic our stay was near flawless and seamless from start to end, and most importantly we felt safe and comfortable. It’s worth noting that all the resort staff we interacted with wore masks and kept a safe distance from us during our stay. Physical distancing was also observed in the resort restaurants, and I think it also helped that most activities in the resort are open air or outdoors.

What I liked:

Beautiful Villa and Resort- Though our stay was in no way budget-friendly, we felt The Anantara Dhigu resort still offers a great value for the price, and we had an excellent stay. The airport transfer experience was easy and seamless, our villa was beautiful, spacious and very clean, and the resort was well manicured. If there’s one thing that stands out, I would have to say it was the service. The level of service we received from the staff was outstanding with a smile. We even received a welcome amenity with Champagne and snacks.

The outdoor space – 2 sliding doors open the villa to the outside deck and a path the walks right into the beach. We had our own umbrella sun beds, an outdoor couch, a pair of chairs and a small patio table. The beach area was very clean and constantly raked.

What I didn’t like:

Bathroom – I’m not really a big fan of outdoor bathrooms, as it gets a bit hot during the day and there were also mosquitos flying around. Though housekeeping really does a good job cleaning the bathroom twice a day. The resort also provides a mosquito repellent and bug spray.

It was OK, I guess…

The food – As some of you may know, all food coming into the Maldives are flown in from abroad, so freshness is somewhat of an issue. While the food we had at the resort restaurants won’t win any awards, the dishes were all nicely presented and tasted delicious.
